SERVICES: Representatives from Grady Hospital's Community
Outreach Program visit this day shelter on Mondays and Wednesdays
at 9am to assist women and children who may have mental health
concerns. Alan Harris visits this shelter every Wednesday
at 9am to assist women with mental illnesses obtain housing,
apply for disability benefits, resolve problems with benefits
already being received and with many other related services.
He coordinates his work with that of the Grady Hospital workers.
Cafe 458

SERVICES: Through supportive services, Cafe 458 empowers
each guest to become more productive and more in control
of his or her quality of life. It places special emphasis
on assisting on assisting guests who have mental health and
substance abuse concerns. A phone referral is needed to enter
this program. Orientation is scheduled on Mondays at 9:30am.
A flyer describing Cafe 458's services is available on request.
Guests in the program may eat lunch, Monday through Friday
at Cafe 458.
Central Presbyterian Church

Helps with ID, birth certificates,, bus fare and gas money,
eye screening, food pantry, glasses/contact lens, prescription
expense assistance, specialized information and referral
for homeless individuals.
Crossroads Community Ministries

SERVICES: Offers extensive assistance to people who have
a mental illness: help apply for SSI and SSDI disability
benefits, food stamps, general assistance, housing, mental
health counseling and medications, etc. in addition to the
full range of services available to homeless people at the
same site. (such as ID, information and referrals for shelter,
drug and alcohol recovery programs, clothes, etc.) HOURS:
New clients need to arrive no later than 8:30am for orientation.
If already a client at Crossroads, show up between 9am-11:00am
OTHER SERVICES: Meal: 11:15am for new clients (arrive before
8:30am for orientation), 10am for those already in their
program. Mailroom: New clients must go through the orientation
program (arrive before 8:30am) before getting mail here.
Bible Study: Every Saturday at 9am, everyone welcome. Medical
Clinic (operated by Mercy Mobile Health Clinic) Open Monday
Tuesday, and Thursday 9:30am-4pm; appointments are made beginning
at 9:30am.
24/7 Service Center
This is new center that is the centerpiece of the Mayor’s
Commission on Homelessness and is expected (as of Jan 21,
2004) to open in the summer of 2004 according to Horace Sibley,
Chairman of the Commission to End Homelessness
Intown Community Assistance, Inc./ICA

HOURS: 10:00 am to noon on Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri. (must be present by 9:30
am to receive services). Clothing: helps once a month; Food and rent: only
residents of the 30306 and 30307 are eligible but for other services any one
in metro Atlanta area is eligible. Can walk in or call for appointment. First
25 people are served. Picture ID/driver license for every household member,
social security card, proof of residence or lease, Grady card needed for clothing.
Services are free. For food and rent, must live in zip codes 30306 or 30307.
For all other services anyone in the metro area is served. Other services:
baby clothing and bus fare/gas money., clothing, household items, linens, blankets,
small appliances, toiletries
Project Connect

Offers counseling for people with a mental illness as well
as assisting them with related services: drug and alcohol
information and referral, ID assistance, birth certificates
, clothes, groceries, mailroom, addiction support group,
crisis intervention, case management, supportive counseling,
budgeting assistance, and domestic violence support group
and intervention. HOURS: call Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm for an appointment
The Rock

Offers case management, intake, assessment and referrals
to social service agencies, case management, housing search
assistance, showers, mailboxes, voicemail, supportive housing
for males with a primary diagnose of mental illness and who
can live independently, support groups, treatment for individuals
with substance abuse problems. Hours: 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM
and 1 PM to 4 PM Mon-Fri.
